5/8/2026: The VA Supreme Court has thrown out the redistricting results.

NOTE: Legislatures in three other Southern states — Alabama, Louisiana and South Carolina — are also moving to change their congressional maps to favor Republicans.

After the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act last week, making it easier for states to gerrymander, Tennessee enacted a new map breaking up the state’s one Democratic-held district and diluting the voting power of Black voters.
